Tony C. , Marty & Val, and so on...

Saw a white pickup truck again, thought it was GM Security, glanced out the driver's window, and there was Tony Capozzo - again. He laughs and says "Are you still here?" We talked about a half an hour or so - mostly tractor pulling stuff. Was wonderin', maybe he's there more than I am. Didn't ask him if maybe he actually punches a time card or something.

Was runnin' south down I-69 in Indiana Thursday, and came upon a couple vehicles hauling some tractors, just north of Ft. Wayne. "Gotta check this out", I thought to myself, so I mashed on it. Passed a Ford pickup with 2 on a trailer. Hmmm, tires are cut - must be a pull somewhere. Looked up the road & saw a couple more. Mashed on it some more, and passed a blue Freightshaker hauling 2 more. One said "Spanky" on it. Gosh, I've seen that one somewhere before, I thought. Got back over where I belong, grabbed the CB mic, and hollered back at them. Found out it was Marty & Valerie Felpausch. They were headed to the NATPA Princeton pull. I ran with them about an hour, before I had to get off and "feed the horse". Talked about lots of stuff. They may even have talked me into taking my little red one over to the Clintonia club in Michigan this summer. Andrew seemed to like the idea. Looks like their rules would work, but may have to get another set of tires. Let's see - to pull at all the places we'd like to, we need about 4 sets of tires... Guess that's what junkyards are for...

You're might be wondering why I'm messing around here and not runnin' up and down the road like I'm supposed to. Well, I kinda got ill last night - flu or something - don't know for sure. I feel better now, though. But Andrew and Matthew ain't - maybe the same thing I had. They had the day off today - President's Day, I guess. Hope they can go to school tomorrow. Oh, and that reminds me - they both have a decision to make. They both got letters about joining the National Honor Society. I guess Andrew with a 3.5 something GPA and Matthew @ 3.925 GPA is why the letters were sent. They're both hesitant - they say none of their friends are in it... I guess I'll talk it over with them...

Uploaded the last of the tractor pulling pictures from the 2004 Imlay City pull - 54 of 'em, I think. That's all I have from 2004. Was paging thru a photo album and found some pictures from Bowling Green about 25 years ago. Most of them are of Art Arfons. I guess he was my favorite over the years. Have always had a facination with those turboshaft engines. Maybe some of those will go up, I don't know yet...

Been having problems with the Pullsite.com website server the last week or so. Having trouble batch uploading files to the server. Sent a complaint to the administrator in Utah, but he hasn't responded yet. At the moment it seems to be working...
I really don't want to switch servers. With this dialup connection and transferring all 3749 files @ almost 80MB, that would take at least until Christmas!!! The thought of that is making me ill again...

Was at the Thumb Tractor Pulling Assn. meeting Saturday night. Guess Doug Ziel is the new Farm Div. rep. He'll do alright. Told him he can't tach us though...He can't be taching us with his tractor running and warmin' up, it's against the rules, and he won't be able to pull any good if it ain't warmed up. I think he saw right thru my line of bull, though...
The TTPA is looking for someone to build a new website for them, or take over the one they have. The lady that designed it isn't able to take care of it now for some reason. I told them their site looks fine the way it is - wouldn't make sense to me to start all over. I looked at the code and stuff on their site and told them I could help them with it, but I would need access to their server. Guess they'll decide if they want to trust me or not. Either way, I don't want complete control of it. I've got my hands full with Pullsite...

Have to go now... Feel free to post your comments here - you can do it anonymous or whatever...

Have a good one...

Welcome to the Pullsite webmaster's soapbox, of sorts. I guess you can call it my commentary, diary, memoirs - or whatever you prefer to call it. Thought about putting one of these up most of the week. So what am I gonna do with it? I think most of it will concern the sport of tractor pulling, whether it be antique pulling, modified, smokers, pickups, you name it. But a lot of what I write here may concern other things...

And if you look real close, anyone visiting this page can post their comments. Ok, you might be thinking "I think Jerry went off the deep end this time..." That might be the case, I won't argue with that... Well, here it is, have at it...

Saw Tony Capozzo this week. Was blind-siding into a dock at GM Powertrain in Saginaw and noticed this pickup truck in front of me against the wall. Thought to myself he might better move if I have to straighten up. Realized then it was Tony. Well anyway he said he was there to fix a machine up on the 3rd floor - something to do with a flywheel. Nope, not a John Deere this time, something else. Figured he had to be lost being way up in Saginaw...

Was kinda busy this week, twice to the Bluegrass (aka Kentucky) and Kendallville and Crawfordsville, Indiana. No ice and snow to mess with this week - that was nice...
Oh yeah, last week the Indiana DOT pulled me over in Madison, IN. She said she'd do a walk-around. Told her I knew about that burned out marker light in the back (she knew - she'd been tailing me for 10 miles...). Said she wouldn't write me up for that. 'Course they always wanna look at your "comic book" - that's one thing she'll get me for, I figured. Well, to make a long story short, no violations, no nothing. Not even "Log book not current". I was stunned - they always write me up for that one - even though I never get a fine for it (knock on wood...). I think it has to do with how you behave when they pull you over. Or maybe it's because your hair is gray and they feel sorry for you... I actually don't get stopped very often - maybe twice a year by the motor carrier enforcement folks. And it's been almost 10 years since I had a speeding ticket (knock on wood, again...). Often thought I'd like to take the big truck out west where they don't bother you too much, and see if I can hammer this truck beyond 100mph as the dealer says it'll do...

Got 2 engines I don't know what to do with. Well, 1 block and a complete engine anyway. They'll both fit my little red one. Well, that's not quite right. I actually know what to do with them - if I had the money to do something with them. Everything seems to be a money thing... I suppose I could hunt up a 2nd job - if I had the time...

Been thinking about the Super Pull at Marysville, Ohio this spring. We'll probably be there again and maybe the Cockshutt will come along with us. I'll ask it next time I get a chance. I see they have a rain date scheduled in case the weather don't cooperate. Even that could be interesting - lots of "suds" and socializing if we can't pull, I'm thinking...

Me and Andrew gotta go to breakfast in the morning with Cheap Swede and Dave. Got a real nice breakfast bar there - I think I'll pig out...
